As part of Religious Education, this week Year 1 and Year 4 have been on educational visits to places of worship in Newham. Year 1 have been looking at what it means to belong to Christianity and visited a church. When they got back to school the children couldn’t wait to build their own churches! We already have some budding architects in the making.
Year 4 have been learning about how and why Hindus worship at home and in temples. The pupils visited a temple; they asked some fascinating questions and made some interesting observations:
Why are there so many different gods?
Why is there music playing in the background?
Why does the pundit dress like this?
What is the mala for?
“I can see kum kum powder on the murti”
